Biplab Biprodas, also known as Biprodas Mondal, stands as a remarkable figure in the contemporary art landscape of Bangladesh. Born on October 10, 2024, in Bagerhat, a region celebrated for its rich cultural history, Biplab’s artistic journey reflects a harmonious blend of tradition and modernity.
With an MFA from the University of Development Alternative (UODA) in Dhaka, Biplab honed his craft through years of exploration and academic rigor. His artistic voice is characterized by a deep connection to nature, human emotions, and urban narratives, which he portrays with striking originality.

Nurtured by Learning: Workshops and Mentorship

Throughout his career, Biplab has actively engaged in workshops that have enriched his artistic practice. From participating in the Harmony of Ink and Colour in Assam, India, in 2023 to working under the legendary artist S.M. Sultan during a watercolour workshop in 1993, his experiences have shaped a diverse and dynamic portfolio. Notable moments include a printmaking workshop with Shahid Kabir in 2008 and a restoration workshop at the National Museum, Dhaka, in 1997.

These formative experiences have not only refined his technical skills but also instilled in him a respect for preservation, experimentation, and collaboration in the arts.

Solo Exhibitions: A Reflection of the Soul

Biplab’s solo exhibitions have drawn critical acclaim for their depth and narrative strength. His 2024 exhibition, Metropolitan Melodies, curated by the renowned Artist Professor Mohammad Eunus at Art Bangla Gallery, captured the rhythm of urban life with a poignant sensitivity. Similarly, his 2008 solo show, Epitaph to My Soul, showcased his ability to convey profound introspection through visual storytelling.

Group Exhibitions: A Global Artistic Presence

Biplab’s works have graced numerous prestigious group exhibitions both at home and abroad. In 2024, his participation in Exhibition on Charcoal and Natural Dust at Gallery Bhumi and Shilpangan, Dhaka, emphasized his commitment to exploring unconventional mediums. His works have also been displayed internationally, including in Guwahati, Assam, India, and Karachi, Pakistan.

Notable participations include the 13th Asian Art Biennale (2008), Dhaka Art Summit (2012), and 5th Tone International Art Biennale (2015). Through these exhibitions, Biplab has established himself as a versatile artist capable of resonating with diverse audiences.
